Well, I arrived and checked in at the Eagle's Nest Inn on Dover Air Force Base this afternoon. The gentleman I'll be replacing (Staff Sergeant Joshua Barry) met me and saw to it that I got checked in okay and he helped me with my luggage.
My room (home) is really nice and will be comfortable for my 6 month stay here. It will take a little getting used to, but I've adapted to much worse accomodations in my career!! LOL...
I joined Joshua and his wife for dinner and then he gave me a very quick orientation, so I'll know where to report in the morning.
I have been on Dover AFB many times, but only to visit a couple places like the Base Exchange, Commissary, Military Clothing Sales, Hospital & Dental Facility, but I never had an opportunity to see where the mortuary was.
I will try to meet with Joshua around 6:00am tomorrow to grab some breakfast, but not sure if he will be available, as he is meeting an aircraft at roughly 4:00am. They work some very unpredictable hours here and are pretty much on call 24/7 for anything that they're needed for.
I will ultimately report for duty at 7:30 and meet with my team, who I'll be working with for the next 6 months.
Stay tuned.
Stephen
